Varicose Veins
Varicose veins commonly form around the legs and feet and appear as enlarged, bulgy veins. Varicose veins commonly form in these areas because standing, sitting, and walking increase the pressure on the veins in the lower body. The veins in the lower body are also under increased pressure because they have to go against the force of gravity to push blood back to the heart. As we age, this increased pressure and force can weaken the valves and cause blood to collect. If the valves become damaged or weak, blood can flow backward and pool in the veins. This ultimately causes them to twist or stretch.
Signs and Symptoms
Varicose veins do not always cause pain. Signs can include:
- Dark purple or blue veins
- Twisted, bulging veins that can appear like cords on the legs

Venous Stasis Ulcers
Vincent Vein Center works with Wound Care Centers and Primary Care Providers to assist with healing venous stasis ulcers. They can occur on lower ankles and legs due to long-term Venous Insufficiency. Venous Insufficiency is a chronic condition where the veins in your legs have difficulty fighting gravity and pumping blood back up to the heart. This results in the lower veins filling with blood, causing the cells to leak out of the veins into the skin and tissues, which leads to inflammation and itching.
Signs and Symptoms
Some ulcers may not be painful, but some individuals typically experience a swollen leg with burning or itching. Other symptoms include:
- Aching
- The surrounding area is hot to the touch
- Heavy feeling in the leg

Vein Treatments at Vincent Vein Center
Vincent Vein Center offers a variety of treatment options for vein conditions. From Ultrasound-Guided Sclerotherapy to Endovenous Laser Treatment, our vein specialists can help diagnose and develop a treatment option for the vein condition you are experiencing.
Ultrasound-Guided Sclerotherapy (USGS)
Sclerotherapy uses ultrasound guidance to inject medication into the vein, which causes the vein to spasm and flatten into a fibrous cord. The blood flow in the vein stops, which causes it to dissolve over 3-6 months. Sclerotherapy is minimally invasive and used to treat varicose or spider veins.
Visual Sclerotherapy
Visual Sclerotherapy is used to treat spider veins. An ultrasound is unnecessary to treat them because spider veins can be seen from the skin’s surface. Spider veins are tiny broken capillaries on the surface of the legs or face. They do not always cause pain, but some patients prefer to have them removed for cosmetic reasons.
Endovenous Laser Treatment (EVLT)
Endovenous Laser Treatment is performed by inserting a thin fiber into the damaged vein through a small puncture in the skin. Laser light is sent through the fiber, which heats the vein from the inside. Once the fiber is slowly pulled out of the vein, the vein tissue reacts with the light energy and causes the vein to close shut. Endovenous Laser Treatment is minimally invasive and used to treat varicose veins.
If you suffer from any of the vein conditions mentioned above, Vincent Vein Center will work with you one-on-one to take the time to get to know you and your needs.
